Where can I edit my business information?

If you need to edit any of your business information on your PowerListings, you can do so within your Yext dashboard. Once you are logged into your account, click on "Knowledge Manager" in the top grey bar. 

Each of the sections in your Knowledge Manager are edited the same way: just click the section you want to edit, and it will open up with either text boxes or editing tools. Remember to click "Save" whenever you make a change to your business content!

 

Here are some step-by-step instructions on how to edit the various sections within your Knowledge Manager:

How to edit the business categories:

  1. Click on the area on the left side of the page that says '"Categories." A white text box will appear that you can type in.
  2. Yext has pre-set categories that you must choose from. Start by typing a potential relevant category; a list will appear from which you can choose categories.
  3. Select your category by clicking on it. If you would like to add another one, click "Add another category" (you can add up to 10).
  4. Click "Save."

** Note: Many sites consider the ranking of your categories, so make sure your first category is the most applicable for your business.

How to edit or hide your address:

  1. Click on the area on the left side of the page that says "Address." A white text box will appear that you can type in.
  2. Add your business location in the Address line (Line 1).
  3. Add Suite #, Floor, Unit, etc. in the second address line (Line 2).
  4. Click "Add extra address line" if you need to specify the location of your business. **NOTE: NOT ALL LISTINGS TAKE THE EXTRA ADDRESS LINE**
  5. Add City, State, and Zip Code.
  6. If you want to hide your address: check the box that says "Hide address in listing (extra address line, if any, will still show)" **NOTE: A valid address is still required**
  7. Click "Save."

How to edit the Featured Message (unique to Yext users!):

  1. Click on the current featured message text to the right of where it reads "Featured Message?”
  2. The text box should open up and become edit-able. Type your new Featured Message!
  3. If you would like to link the message to a website, enter the URL address in the second text box below.
  4. Click "Save."

How to provide a description of your business:

  1. Click on the "Business Description" field under "Optional Business Information."
  2. Enter the text describing your business.
  3. Click "Save."

How to update your business hours:

  1. Click on the "Business Hours" field located under "Optional Business Information."
  2. Click specify business hours.
  3. This section allows you to customize your business hours. Just enter your opening and closing hours for each day. Be sure to include AM or PM.
  4. If you are open 24 hours, closed on certain days, or have split business hours: use the drop down menu next to each day of the week to indicate this.
  5. Click "Save."

**Note: If you have the same business hours every day of the week, simply type in the business hours for Monday and select "Apply to all."

 

How to add a logo that will be displayed next to your business listing on certain sites:

  1. Click "Add Business Logo" under Photos and Video.
  2. Click "Choose File" and select a JPG, PNG, or GIF file with your logo. You can also drag and drop the selected file.
  3. Click "Save."

How to add photos, such as pictures of your staff, office, or products, that many sites will display along with your business profile:

  1. Click on "Add Photos," within the "More Photos" field just under the business logo.
  2. Click the "Choose File" button, and select an image saved as either a JPG, GIF, or PNG file. You can also drag and drop the file, or add a link that directs to the photo. If you are adding a photo via a link, hit the 'enter' key on your keyboard to submit the photo link.
  3. If you wish, enter a brief caption describing the picture.
  4. Click "Save."

 

Remember, the more content, the better! Not only will updating your dashboard make you look like an expert in your field, updates can also help to improve your online performance. It’s a win-win!
